I am unsure on what career I wish to pursue in later life and to create a career plan so I have created a flow diagram for both a filmmaking career and a print designing career. Both careers involve going to university and then diversify. Going to university will help to refine my skills and make me learn multiple techniques that will improve my craft and take away from some of my weaknesses which I have identified.
After this, following the filmmaking route I will start to complete short films either on my own or as part of a group of filmmakers. This will give me more footage to put on a showreel and build a portfolio for applying at studios. I will then participate in short film festivals and competition to gain professional feedback on my projects. The competitions will include the Jameson First Shot which will give me a lot of experience and help give a boost to my career if selected or would give me inspiration to try again if I failed. To collaborate with other in making films I could use: https://shootingpeople.org/production/work
After taking part in the competition I will either apply to the NTFS as a director or I would first start scripting for feature films and have many ideas before applying to the NFTS.
If I followed the print design route I would first complete portfolio work which I would then upload to behance to improve my portfolio and give me needed feedback. After this I would apply to university for a designing course which would teach me many new techniques much like the filmmaking course. Once I have learnt the techniques I would apply to a print design studio as a copier and then work my way up to a layout designer.
Short term aims
Finish Long road and go to university for one of two courses then complete portfolio work for either career.
Medium term aims
Build up a large portfolio and create a showreel for either skill. Gain an internship at a printing company or take part in multiple group projects to gain experience and develop skills. Take part in multiple competitions for filmmaking. I could take a printing internship at Starz using the link below.

Long term aims
Gain accolades in filmmaking and take part in the Jameson first shot competition then apply to NFTS in a directing role. Get hired as a copier and then become a layout designer for larger publications.
Contingency plan
Follow the other route and use the showreel to create projects on youtube or behance to gain freelance work whilst following the other career path. As I currently have two part time jobs they are part of my contingency as if I fail at both career paths then I could still gain money and contacts through these jobs.
